Video of Rainbow Gold

The sound quality and white balance are horrible, but, well, I did shoot this in a basement with a digital camera. Two of these guys are my uncles. They had a band in the '70s and '80s called Rainbow Gold (a tribute to their Irish heritage). They played covers of popular music from that era at local bars. I went to see them at Gallagher's Pub (now called Nanny O'Brien's) in Cleveland Park on my 12th birthday. they played this reunion gig after my cousin's wedding. They are doing a cover of the Association's cover of the Dylan tune "One Too Many Mornings".

More pictures, banners

More Pictures. These are groups of images in a banner style. If they were landscapes you could call them panoramics, but they are not landscapes.

This first set is called "Winged". All of the subjects have them in one form or another. They are all animals, also, so there are no aircraft or anything. The first is an osprey, followed by a slaty skimmer (a dragonfly), a Swainson's hawk, dead bugs, cedar waxwings, a silver-haired bat, and a skimmer.

Winged

These are water in various forms, reflections off of water, and things seen through water.

Water

These images all have a certain repeated pattern, kind of like crossties on a railroad.

Crossties

Long things pointing up and down. The first one is from Durham. that is the Lucky Strike chimney. Then there is a fishing rod, a mast, and a piece of machinery. I think it was used to transport huge pipes onto the beach for a beach renourishment project. They probably killed baby sea turtles in the process.

Up & Down

Different pathways. Stairs in the tower of the Post Office Pavilion. Piping plover footprints. The Appalachian Trail in fog. Snow from the 12th floor, Johnny Mercer's Pier, Wrightsville Beach.

Paths

DC Monuments.

Monuments

Hands. A bass fretboard, fried dough from the Portuguese baker in P'town, rolling out Ledo's style pizza dough, Carolina-style three-finger pickin', and a throw net.

Hands

Random things.

Lotus

Carved stone. Unfortunately, two of these are from Duke. The Chapel on West Campus, and some East Campus Greek-temple-like building.

LUSTER, two weeks ago

Finally, here are some pictures from the LUSTER gallery show that was down in Logan Circle at Lee Jensen's Brake Shop. It was a really nice space. Especially nice were the brake pads and belts behind the bar, the lichen on the walls, and the hole in the bathroom wall. It was tempting to urinate out that hole.

Trevor Young, a gentleman I have known now for 26 years had a painting in this show. It is a very good painting, part of a series he did of machines, basins and other industrial utility items. Here it is:

Untitled

Other artwork included the gold shoes that were in the show's flier, some other paintings, a couple of sculptures, and these by Kate Hardy:

Some GIFs

These are people I have known a long time.

I got this by taking a burst of pictures while the subjects and I both moved a bit. It just worked out that we all moved laterally to each other, so when the pictures are flickered back and forth you get this 3D effect.

stereoscopic no. 1

These are good people somewhere in DC, on a rooftop. At a wedding. These two folks appear in many of the photos I take, so they may appear here quite often.

stereoscopic no. 2

I have known this guy my whole life. He studies Greek and Roman stuff in Turkey.
